Heavenly Wednesdays

Small Groups at CHR

Our Heavenly Wednesday programming will return on January 14! For five weeks, we will gather as one community for an intentional season of prayer, fellowship, and study.

Each evening will begin at 6:00pm with worship in the Chapel, followed by all parish programming for youth and adults at 6:30pm. We will come together to praise God, be fed, grow in community, and deepen our faith in Jesus before breaking into one of three group offerings:

  1. Parish-wide Bible study on the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7)

  2. 20’s and 30’s group book study on C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters

  3. The CHR Mothers’ Group, exploring how the Book of Common Prayer can shape personal and family prayer practices

Childcare will be available throughout the evening, with children invited to join our teaching artists for crafts and study hall in the art room. For questions, resources, or to learn more about any of these offerings, please email Rev. Michael Sadhev at msahdev@heavenlyrest.org.

We meet once a month for a time of connection and community. This winter, we will begin the planning process for our participation in the annual AIDS walk and for our Pride services. Seniors in New York, led by Gail Zimmerman - Tuesdays at 4 pm on Zoom

We support each other by sharing opportunities of interest to seniors in New York. Through our sharing, we have discussed exercise classes, lectures, walking groups, museums, restaurants, the many activities at CHR, and so much more. We start each meeting with a topic suggested in the weekly email invitation and follow members' lead wherever it may go. When we began three years ago, we mainly focused on living through Covid. We now support each other by sharing ideas and talking about current needs. We currently meet in person twice a year. We may be able to do more of this in the future. Our goal is to be a group of friendship and support.
